Since 2005 we have been thinking of something like the Double Play. Our experience as MTB riders made us notice that we were using the full range of cassette with only the middle chainring of our triple chainring crankset. Even if the chain line was good, it was still not very efficient with the extreme cogs of the cassette. And furthermore with the smallest and biggest chainring, we were totally unable to use all the cassette possibilities.
So we started from nothing to create the best product possible to efficiently use all of the cassettes possibilities. We determined that 2 chainrings made it possible to use all of the cassettes cogs perfectly.
In order to reduce the Q-factor to get the best chain line, we did not modify a current triple crankset, as many of our competitors are doing. By designing the crank from the beginning to have only 2 chainrings, we redefined the standard of MTB cranksets. We have obtained the best chain line possible, and 18 seeds you can really use compared to 27, that you cannot really use.
And to do what we used the best materials possible with 3K full Carbon for arms, and the best AL 7075 alloy for the chainrings. Of course with an integrated aluminum axle, for lighter and stiffer properties, and with famous SKF bearings for low friction and the best durability possible.
So we invented and created the first real MTB Compact crankset, that exists only in a double chainring version. As it is a product that has been developed 100% for only 2 chainrings, and with the arrival of 10 speeds in the MTB market we are ready with the best crankset to provide the new possibilities this transmission will carry to the MTB World. And this crankset will permit you to get the best from your transmission for any XC ride you will do, from competition, to just riding your favorites singles trails with friends. |
